Orchids need special care. These tropical flowers are epiphytes under natural conditions, that is, they do not grow in the ground, they attach themselves to the roots of trees and take all the necessary nutrients from the air. Therefore, growing them at home requires different conditions.
1. Lighting and placement ..
The west or east side of the house is comfortable for the orchid. Where scattered but will have a lot of light, without direct sunlight. The plant also does not like movements.
2. Temperature mode.
Afraid of the cold. Requires a constant air temperature in the range of 17-25 Cº. Orp [ir, sharp changes in temperature, too much heat also damages the plant. For good development of the orchid, we can make it a daily artificial change of temperature by 3-5 degrees.
3. Moisture and watering ..
The orchid is irrigated by immersion. So that water does not hit the leaves, the roots of the plant are soaked in a small bowl of water filled with lukewarm water for 15-20 minutes. Once the roots change color from gray to green, remove from the heat, remove excess water and return the orchid to the ground. And repeat this procedure 2 weeks later. It is good to clean its leaves 1-2 times a week with a damp sponge.
4. Fertilizer
During the period of active growth, the orchid needs fertilization every 2 weeks. Other times a month once a year. We do not fertilize during transplanting and flowering.
5. Post-flowering care.
After flowering, the plant first needs to be pruned. When the flower stem is completely darkened and all the flowers and buds are protected, it should be partially cut at the base of 2 cm. It is important to treat the solution with wax so that water does not get on it. If the orchid is transplantable, which is determined by the condition of its roots and substrate, we do it only after the end of flowering. After the end of the maturation period, watered in 3 weeks.
